LONDON (Reuters) - The body recovered from the wreckage is for  Emilio Sala, the English Premier League forward and pilot David Ibbotson, lost over the English Channel on January 21,, And turns out to be the body of Sala.

The body was identified days after the wreckage was detected north of the island of Jersey.

"My family Sala and pilot David Ibbotson were informed of this news," said the police statement. "We sympathize with them at this difficult time."
The statement said the investigation into the circumstances of the death will continue.

The British Air Accident Investigation Division confirmed on Wednesday that the body had been recovered but did not say whether it had been identified.

The plane carrying 28-year-old Argentine striker Sala to Wales from France, after signing Cardiff City contracts, disappeared from radar screens while crossing the English Channel.
